At Kaiser Permanente our goal is to improve the total health of not only our members but the communities in which they live. By working with communities we can improve the health environments and health knowledge of those living in our area of service. The Institute for Health Research contributes to this effort in several ways:
- We conduct world-class research by studying causes of disease, looking at prevention strategies, new treatments, diagnostic procedures, and more effective methods of delivering health care.
- With this wealth of knowledge we accrue we share the results with the entire medical field, communities we serve and local and national policy makers. In addition we publish our findings in established medical journals, thus our work is accessible to any health provider.
- We also put our findings into practice. By working with the doctors and nurses in our clinics we help create internal policies and operations that improve service, reduce costs and give the patient a better health care experience.
