The CCTSI is a collaborative enterprise between University of Colorado, six affiliated hospitals and health care organizations (including Kaiser Permanente’s IHR), and multiple community organizations with resources to promote research and training that will advance health care and improve the public health. The CCTSI was created in 2008 with funding from the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) initiative of the National Institutes of Health.
Several seminar series, training and mentoring opportunities are offered through the CCTSI. For many, the only requirement is that you become a member of the CCTSI. Membership does not cost anything. You just need to sign-up. Membership is basically an evaluation mechanism to understand the level of interest and use of CCTSI resources. The link will give you more information about what it means to be a member.
The following links will direct you to some of the seminar, mentoring, and educational resources offered by the CCTSI. This is by no means meant to capture all resources, so you are highly encourage to explore the whole CCTSI website to see what else might interest you.
If you have any questions about the IHR’s role in/relationship with the CCTSI please contact Leslie Wright,
(at 303-614-1229) the IHR’s CCTSI Community Liaison.

Look here to find several mentoring resources and information about:
- K Club Seminar Series - a series of leadership seminars aimed at new and mid-career investigators. The K Club curriculum is designed to help faculty members achieve their research goals by delivering some of the "hidden curriculum" needed to succeed in academic research
- Clinical Faculty Scholars Program - participants are helped to obtain a career development award (K08, K23 or foundation equivalent), or a first independent, extramural project award (R21, R01 or equivalent).
- CCTSI KL2 (K12) Research Scholar Award - The goal of the CCTSI KL2 (K12) research Scholar award is for the grantee to ultimately obtain an individual career development award, or an independent investigator (i.e. R01) award.
- CCTSI TL1 (T32) Pre-Doctoral Training Awards for PhD Students The Colorado TSI grant includes TL1 (T32) fellowship support for PhD students electing to complete the requirements of the Clinical Translational Science Certificate for PhD students
- CCTSI Nuts and Bolts Seminar Series - focuses on educating students, researchers and the greater community about the offerings of the different CCTSI cores and how the cores' resources can be leveraged to accelerate research.
- Clinical Trials Training for Investigators & Coordinators (CTTIC) designed to provide specialized training to research study coordinators and investigators. It consists of 24 hours of content and is delivered by staff at UCDHSC and affiliated institutions. While the curriculum is aimed at new investigators and coordinators, it may be recommended for investigators who are experiencing problems with COMIRB review, writing consent forms, protocol violations, or patient safety issues. Some courses focus heavily on clinical trials (the core course and FDA audits) but others cross all types of research (consent, recruitment, IRB submission).
