Dr. Bayliss? research focuses on processes of care and methods for studying care delivery for complex patient populations. She is also interested in the interaction between health policy and care delivery.

Dr. Bayliss completed her medical training at the University of Colorado Denver, where she also received her Master of Science in Public Health degree. She has served as Principal Investigator on a number of studies of complex patients, providing foundational work on developing patient-reported quality measures for complex patients, assessing the impact of primary and specialty care continuity within an integrated delivery system, assessing outcomes for seniors who have discontinued proton pump inhibitors, and a study of statin prescribing patterns near the end of life in patients with cardiovascular disease and end-stage cancer.

  • Scalable PArtnering Network for CER: Across Lifespan, Conditions, and Settings?
This project will develop a distributed research network, which will create linkages across health care systems to provide access to current patient-level data that supports a dynamic foundation for conducting observational investigations and improves recruitment for interventional research. Over time, the network will expand to facilitate study of broad spectrums of treatments for multiple health conditions in complex and diverse populations across multiple types of health delivery systems.

  • Determining Processes of Cardiovascular Care Relevant to Complex Patients
We will study an historical cohort of adults with an initial diagnosis of cancer during the period 1999 to 2007. We will a) assess the attainment of goals for specific components of primary, secondary, and ‘tertiary’ prevention of coronary heart disease as a function of cancer prognosis, overall morbidity and the interaction between them, and b) assess the comparative effectiveness of these coronary heart disease prevention interventions on a composite coronary heart disease outcome.
Funder:?Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality?
  • Investigation of patient-reported pain outcomes to inform diabetic peripheral neuropathy treatment and research
This project is exploring strategies for validating and collecting patient-reported pain outcomes to facilitate comparative effectiveness and safety studies related to painful DPN in diverse patient populations.

  • HMO Research Network CERT III Anti ?TNF
There are two broad aims for CERT3: 1) Enhance the collective ability of the HMO Research Network and other collaborating health plans to advance therapeutics knowledge by leveraging unique data sources within a very large, generalizable population. 2) Develop and implement new multi-faceted methods for disseminating and promoting best therapeutic practices.?
