CURRENT

Vaccine Safety Datalink: Comprehensive Link Data Collection of Medical Events and Immunization
To investigate the safety of vaccines in children and adults in a large national cohort
Role: Co-Investigator/Biostatistician
Funder: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/ America’s Health Insurance Plans

Telecommunications Enhanced Asthma Management (TEAM)
This project is a practical, randomized clinical trial to test the impact of a health communication intervention designed to improve inhaled asthma controller medication adherence in 3-12 year old children with asthma through parental contact.
Role: Biostatistician
Funder: National Heart Lung and Blood Institute

Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI), the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Program
Goals of the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Program are 1) Develop and maintain the BERD leadership and biostatistics consortium; 2) Provide consultation/collaboration in biostatistics, epidemiology, and study design; 3) Provide training and mentorship in biostatistics and epidemiology; 4) To advance biostatistical and epidemiological methods for translational research.
Role: Biostatistician/Steering committee of BERD core
Funder: National Institutes of Health/ National Center for Research Resources

Longitudinal Studies of Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators (ICDs)

Mechanisms of Physical Activity and Behavior Change
This project uses an individually-tailored physical activity intervention delivered through efficient and scalable interactive technologies directed at patients who have been referred for a treadmill cardiovascular stress test.
Role: Biostatistician
Funder: National Institutes of Health/ National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases

Center for Rural Mental Health Services Research
The objective of the center is to develop and disseminate scientific knowledge that can be readily applied to improve the use, quality and outcomes of mental health care provided to rural populations.  The proposed research portfolio consists of a closely coordinated set of quantitative studies: (1) to identify at-risk areas within rural American to target for depression quality improvement adoption, (2) to determine whether and why existing care models differentially improve treatment in rural and urban patient populations, (3) to explore promising hospitalization prevention strategies which have the potential to provide more funding for outpatient specialty care, and (4) to identify potential payers who economically benefit with the adoption of depression quality improvement programs
Role: Biostatistician/Co-Investigator
Funder: Health Services Research Administration, Office of Rural Health Policy

Diabetes and Drug-Associated Hyperkalemia: Effect of Laboratory Monitoring
This study assesses associations between receipt and timing of potassium monitoring and the occurrence of
hyperkalemia-associated adverse events in patients with diabetes who are prescribed angiotensin converting
enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers and/or aldosterone receptor antagonists.
Role: Lead Biostatistician
Funder: National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases

Longitudinal Outcomes following Drug Eluting Stent Implantation
This project will be a retrospective cohort study of ~10,000 patients undergoing drug eluting stent placement in 3 large healthcare organizations and determine the relationship between anti-platelet therapy with clopidogrel and the occurrence of adverse outcomes following DES implantation.
Role: Lead Biostatistician
Funder: Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality/ Centers for Education and Research in Therapeutics
