REDCap Administrators
Megan Baldwin
I am a Project Manager at Kaiser Permanente Colorado's Institute for Health Research (IHR). I studied psychology at the University of Colorado Denver, and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University. I have worked in the healthcare industry for over 19 years and have been in research for 9. Prior to joining the IHR I worked as a pharmacovigilance researcher, working closely with regulatory agencies to monitor pharmaceutical products and report adverse events to the FDA. I also worked with the Randomized Clinical Trials department to QC trial data and extract and report adverse events. My work in the IHR focuses primarily on behavioral health studies, namely in suicide prevention and depression monitoring. I also work heavily in REDCap for quality improvement and clinical research studies involving diabetes and hypertension.
My experience with REDCap began 9 years ago during my time as a pharmacovigilance researcher. At that time, my role was primarily to enter and QC data for randomized clinical trials and extract data pertaining to adverse events. Upon my arrival to the IHR, I began working on a project, Controlling Hypertension in Native American & Other Populations (CHINA), and was tasked with building a survey to gather data from a population in Albuquerque, NM. From there, I developed a complete longitudinal project and found my passion for REDCap. I have extensive experience in longitudinal database production, randomization, automation of surveys and email communications, and HTML coding. I look forward to building my skills as an end-user by collaborating on various projects, attending REDCap trainings and conferences, and continuing work in our IHR REDCap Development goal group.

I am a Research Specialist at the Institute for Health Research (IHR) at Kaiser Permanente Colorado (KPCO). I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology. I am currently a student in the Public Health Sciences certificate program in the Colorado School of Public Health with the University of Colorado. Prior to coming to the IHR, I worked in a Type 1 diabetes study for over 10 years, collecting and processing blood samples and interviewing families and children. My focus in the IHR is recruiting and tracking patients for a randomized trial that will examine the impact of expanding access to naloxone for adults prescribed chronic opioid medicines. I am also involved in a lung nodule study, development of study surveys and databases in REDCap, and patient interviews.
Since joining the IHR, I have aimed to increase my knowledge about REDCap by attending trainings such as the University of Colorado and REDCap U in Nashville which provided new administrator training, and knowledge about upcoming REDCap modules and advanced features. I also attended the REDCap Mile High MiniCon. During my time in the IHR, I have developed longitudinal tracking databases and surveys. I also have knowledge in survey distribution by using automated invitations and reminders and providing electronic incentive codes through REDCap.
